Summer holidays on the Renon: a long tradition
It used to be the better-off families from Bolzano who, as far back as 1576, would pack up on 29 June (the feast of Saints Peter and Paul) and spend exactly 72 days at their summer retreats up on the Renon, which since then has been South Tyrol’s most popular mountain resort. Holidaymakers will find everything to permit them to escape from their everyday lives, with soothing peace and tranquillity. There are plenty of walking opportunities of varying heights and degrees of difficulty. The old Rittner Bahnl (light railway), which runs between Collalbo and Soprabolzano, is also a source of considerable nostalgia. The microclimate in the midst of the beautiful natural landscape makes the Renon a wonderful holiday destination, whatever the season.
